Declaración de guerra de Australia a Alemania (3-9-1939)
El 3 de setiembre de 1939, inmediatamente después que el Primer Ministro británico, Neville Chamberlain, anunció el estado de guerra entre Gran Bretaña y Alemania, el Primer Ministro la Mancomunidad de Australia, Robert Menzies, hizo la declaración de guerra que fue publicada en todos los diarios y difundida por las emisoras de radio, en ondas medias y cortas, de Australia.
Dice el comunicado:

CONSIDERANDO que por la Ley de Defensa de 1903-1939 que, entre otras cosas promulga que la expresión "Tiempo de Guerra" utilizado en esa Ley significa cualquier tiempo durante el cual realmente existe un estado de guerra, e incluye el tiempo entre la emisión de una proclamación de la existencia de guerra o de peligro de la misma y la emisión de una proclama declaran do que la guerra o el peligro de ella, declarada en el anuncio previo, ya no existe; Ahora, por lo tanto, Alexander Gore Aikwright, Barón Gowrie, Gobernador General antes mencionado, actuando con el asesoramiento del Consejo Ejecutivo Federal, proclamo por la presente, la existencia de guerra. Dado bajo mi firma y el sello de la Mancomunidad este tercer día de septiembre, en el año de Nuestro Señor Mil Novecien tos y treinta y nueve y en el tercer año del reinado de Su Majestad. |

It is hereby notified for general information that war has broken out between Great Britain and Germany.
DATED this third day of September, 1939.

PROCLAMATION
Commonwealth of By His Excellency the Governor-General
Australia to wit. in and over the Commonwealth of
GOWRIE Australia.
Governor-General.
WHEREAS by the Defence Act 1903-1939 it is amongst other
things enacted that the expression "Time of War" used in that
Act means any time during which a state of war actually exists, and
includes the time between the issue of a proclamation of the existence
of war or of danger thereof and the issue of a proclamation declar-
ing that the War or danger thereof, declared in the prior proclamation,
no longer exists;
Now therefore I, Alexander Gore Aikwright, Baron Gowrie, the
Governor-General aforesaid, acting with the advice of the Federal
Executive Council, do hereby proclaim the existence of war.
Given under my Hand and the Seal of the Commonwealth this
third day of September in ,the year of our Lord One thous-
and nine hundred and thirty-nine and in the third year of
His Majesty's reign.
